Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited (APSCL) Details

Ashuganj Power Station Company Ltd. (APSCL) signed an agreement with BPDB on May 22, 2003. All the activities of the company officially started on June 01, 2003, and the overall activities of the company, including operation, maintenance, and development activities of the power station, are managed by the managing director, executive director (engineering), executive director (planning and development) and executive director (finance).

The current total power generation capacity is 1690 MW of its 08 units, which is 17% of the total electricity demand of Bangladesh. Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited (APSCL) was registered as part of the Government of Bangladesh on June 26, 2000, under the Companies Act 1994.

Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited Construction Details

According to the Companies act, of 1990, under-owned the Government of Bangladesh’s Power Sector Development and Reform Program, Ashuganj Power Station Company was established on June 28, 2000. Ashuganj 400 MW CCPP Project Land Acquire, Development, and Conservation Project for Patuakhali 1320 MW Super Thermal Power Station Project is wholly acquired. The government built concrete structures for the power plant by design.

Raw Materials Of Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited

The Raw Materials of the Ashuganj Power Station are natural gas. Bakhrabad Gas Distribution Company supplies natural gas for the plant. It is being used as the primary fuel of this power plant. The water required for steam generation and cooling is taken from the Meghna River.

The massive amount of water used for cooling is discharged into the river through the discharge channel of the power plant. It may be mentioned that during the dry season, a considerable amount of water from discharge channels is used to irrigate about 36,000 acres of land in Ashuganj, Serail, and Brahmanbaria.
